Rochester, NY (July 20, 2010) --
With the legal deadline passed for candidates to submit nominating petitions, we now know who is REALLY seeking office in 2010. What we do not yet know is how many of these would-be candidates will actually make it on to a September or November ballot. Inside, an interim look at who's running -- and who's not.

PETITIONS CHALLENGED!

Our petitions submitted to the Monroe County Board of Elections on Thursday, July 15 for the New York Assembly seat primary to be held on September 14, 2010, have been challenged!

Allen Richards of the Monroe County Democratic Committee filed a challenge to our petitions and it is believed he also filed a challenge to all other challengers, i.e. Evans & Powell.

They have until July 26 to file specific objections, i.e. what exactly is wrong with our signatures/petitions.

The U.S. economy remains in highly-questionable shape, and many experts are asking where the source of recovery will come from. Over at Salon, Michael Lind has come down firmly on the side of domestic public growth — more specifically, infrastructure.

Petitions Submitted to the Monroe County Board of Elections After Lies & Misinformation from the BOE

While we submitted more than enough signatures on petitions to the Board of Elections on Thursday to be placed on the ballot in September, we could have had many more signatures if the BOE had given us correct voter information when we asked for it. They told us one of our petition workers was not a registered vote (she was) and when we asked the BOE for help in determining what party affiliation the same worker was/is, we were told "It is NOT public information what party affiliation a voter is."

Little traveled and past its prime, the eastern bend of the Inner Loop cuts a swath that divides the popular East End and separates the Park Avenue and Monroe Avenue neighborhoods from downtown.

Rochester, NY (May 27, 2010) -- Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has named his running mate in his quest to become New York's gubernator: Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy. What does this mean for Cuomo's campaign? What does it mean for Rochester? And what will become of Rochester's Democrats? The Smugtown Beacon has the answers.

Politically, a good move for Cuomo

"Party in the Park: tonight starts at 5 p.m. and features Jimmy Cliff. The cost of entry is the confiscation of chairs, food, and drink (other than one purchased bottle of water or purchased food at the event) and "patrons are asked to leave their bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates and pets at home," so only car drivers are welcome."
