These are The Emails Showing Reasons For The Impeachment of ROC City Council Members Lovely Warren, Haag, Spaull, Palumbo, McFadden, Ortiz & Scott. Sen Schumer shut this conference call down. It would have shown how Rochester can save the $52 million at Mortimer bus barn by not building the bus barn, instead, build an inter-modal station at the Amtrak.
If we build at Mortimer, the future of high speed rail in Rochester is in doubt, says Deputy Asstant Secretary of Transportation, Beth Osborn: "
"She will explain that multi-modal connectivity is very important and that spending DOT funds for a stand-alone bus terminal could adversely effect future funding for high speed rail.
This conference call between the Deputy Transportation Secretary Beth Osborn & the Rochester City Council was shut down by Senator Chuck Schumer. Ms. Osborn said she is scared she may be fired for trying to show Rochester how to save $52 million & build an inter-modal transit system in Rochester!

I received a call from Beth Osborne at US DOT informing me that she has been told it would not be appropriate for her to participate in the conference call she had arranged, as non competitive projects funded by earmarks are matters for local determination. However she advised that Rochester officials consider their future applications for discretionary grant qpplications for Economic Recovery funds. In reviewing current NOFA’s, it will be hard to make a competitive case for funding when the criteria of “liveability” (meaning intermodal connectedness) has been absent in past projects. This would include Train, Bus and Bike infrastructure grants from TIGER funds.
Therefore, the conference call is cancelled.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy at US DOT, Beth Osborne, has made herself available for a conference call for your benefit tomorrow, Tuesday, June 15, at 9:30 AM.
She is prepared to discuss with members of Council and the Corp. Counsel the Obama Administration policy regarding future grants and high speed rail lines and station criteria. She will explain that multi-modal connectivity is very important and that spending DOT funds for a stand-alone bus terminal could adversely effect future funding for high speed rail. Furthermore, she will explain that the present funding commitments for RGRTA will not be lost if the City states that it wishes to make a new plan for transit and transportation needs with different capital expenditures.
