Dear Friends in Labor,
September 1, 2009
Dear Friends in Labor,
My name is Harry Davis and I am running for a seat on the Rochester, NY City Council. I have worked tirelessly to address the issues that plague our community. Lack of jobs, health care coverage, and safety issues must be prioritized and corrected. Due to the lack of planning and action in our area, I have decided to run for Rochester City Council. My agenda for this area includes the creation of jobs, improving the safety of our buildings and workplaces, and ensuring the economic future of the greater Rochester area.
As a member of the Rochester City Council, I will have a greater platform to highlight important labor issues. I will advocate for a single payer national health care system and the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.
This race is of vital importance due to the increase in the unemployment rate and lack of support in creating local jobs city residents. Despite the promises made by incumbents that have not been seen to fruition, I will champion prevailing wages and project labor agreements on all community projects. I believe these are key factors in boosting our local economy, and using stimulus funds as they were originally intended. It’s time for the citizens of the City of Rochester to be shown the respect they deserve as taxpayers and members of the community.
My endorsements include the Working Families Party, and the Green Party of Monroe County. I am reaching out to the Labor Community for your support. Your help is urgently needed to create a victory for labor and the residents of the City of Rochester. Thank you in advance for you solidarity and support in taking a step toward positive change. I look forward to exchanging ideas and addressing other concerns from all of you. I can be contacted at (585) 355 4259.
President Obama has $8 billion in stimulus money this year for high speed rail. Governor Patterson has asked for $600 million, $116 million of that will come to Rochester to build the high speed rail and create jobs for our local workers.
I look forward to helping you get back to work building a high speed rail in Rochester, NY.
In Solidarity, Unity and Respect,
Harry Davis
Candidate for Rochester City Council
